Improvement consist of a cylinder and a recoil shield and a priming magazine behind the
next chamber to tire. On cocking the hammer the pelet of priming fells from the priming magazine
under the hammer ready for firing. On November 1857 the Ordnance Department received a Crooker for trial but Major W.H. Bell, commandant at Washington Arsenal, refused to tire because of the danger that all chambers being off when the priming was sheared. Probably non further was manufactured. |
